°æ·Â I have been teaching English in Korea since 2017.
ÀÚ±â¼Ò°³ Thank you for taking the time to review my application. I hope that the qualifications and experience listed on my CV will be allow me to be considered for a position at your company. I would also like to highlight the fact that I am already living in Seoul. I have a current E2 visa. I will be ready to start work from as soon as February or March and I do not need to spend time in quarantine before I can attend interviews or start training. I am also experienced at conducting work online during this challenging time.

I have worked as an English teacher in Korea since 2017. I am now fully confident about my ability to do the job well. Compared to when I arrived in Korea, I have more experience in teaching environments; am more comfortable with the schedule and workload; and am much more confident about my ability to interact with young students of varied abilities. I have worked in three very different academies and gained an understanding of varied workplaces within the same profession.

I think some of the skills I developed before coming to Korea have been transferable into my teaching roles. I would like to use this opportunity to briefly state some of the less obvious reasons why I have adjusted well to the teaching role and hopefully continue to be a good candidate.

I feel that my experience working as a graphic designer - although not teaching per se - has made me suitably skilful at conveying information to a range of varied and often specific target audiences. This usually entails identifying and adapting to restrictions such as available resources, budget and timescale, in order to present information in the clearest and most concise way possible. It also requires empathising with and responding to the would-be recipients¡¯ perspective, as well as their level of pre-existing familiarity with the information being presented. My experience in this field has given me a huge advantage when I have been asked to produce teaching materials, because I can ensure that the information is presented in a clear, consistent and visually pleasing style, quickly and easily adapted to the level of teaching required.

For another example, I feel that my experience with printmaking is also relevant: Through my local co-operative, I was given the opportunity to teach several classes on the subject of traditional printmaking processes. These processes are often quite complicated and long-winded, especially from the perspective of beginners. For that reason, it is really important that that the students can not only understand, but retain the information given to them, so that they can practice the processes more independently in future.

I have decided to stay in Korea and continue this fantastic opportunity for me to experience a culture very different to my own on an authentic and rewarding level. I am enjoying visiting Korea not simply as a tourist, but as somebody who can try to assimilate and ultimately make a positive contribution to the country and the education of the people living here.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me at your convenience.
Thanks again for your time and I hope to hear from you soon.

Yours sincerely,

Alexander Ponting
