  Advanced English Teaching
Dear Diana,
We will be matching you based on your qualifications and preferences. There are various types of schools and we do have schools that specifically look for qualified advanced level teachers like yourself.

There are schools that are assisting Korean middle and high school students that are studying to enter American/Canadian public high schools and universities- even Ivy League schools. You might be surprised at how advanced the students are in Korea. There are Korean middle school students that study and have a good understanding of books taught at US public high schools and universities.

As for extracurricular activities with students- it would vary with each school. It would depend on the curriculum and types of activities arranged by the school. There are over 60,000 ESL teachers in Korea mainly from the US and Canada and it would not be difficult to befriend teachers at your school or at other schools to emerge yourself with Korean culture.

Thanks!

Park English Team

Hi,

I'm currently a high school English teacher at a competitive public school in the US and teach both the very advanced students (college level English) and the remedial students (sometimes even recently emigrated students, though not officially labeled ESL students). While I realize the positions you offer are for ESL teaching, do you work with some schools that need more experienced teachers for more advanced courses in English (like literature classes)? I am interested either way, but I would like to know what could be available.

Also, are there any opportunities for foreign teachers to get involved in extracurricular work with students? I know very little about the Korean education system, but I know from my experience as a current teacher that involvement with student activities is a great way to learn about the culture of your school (which would be important to me in a foreign country).

Thank you for your help.

~Diana E.
