My name is Jonathan West and I am applying for the English as a Second Language teacher position. I graduated with a degree in Biology, pre-medicine concentration, and a minor in Chemistry from Baylor University. I taught Biology, Chemistry, and Physics for a rural public school district in Texas, but my main expertise is working with ESL students. I started at a private academy in Iksan, a small city in South Korea, teaching mostly elementary students. I then went to Gochang, a rural county in Korea, and taught at several public middle schools. While I was there, I created my own curriculum, worked alongside a native Korean teacher, and earned my TESOL certificate in my free time. After that I was transferred back to Iksan and taught at a public high school. I was given no curriculum or book, so I had to create one from scratch. During this time, I completed my Master's of Education with a concentration in ESL. Finally I was an assistant professor at Wonkwang University in Iksan for the past seven years. During this time, I heavily modified the curriculum to benefit myself and the students. I am currently back in Memphis with my family and looking for a place to use my experience in learning a foreign language, teaching ESL, and living in a different country.
I have no visible piercings or body art. I was diagnosed with depression after the divorce, and is easily manageable with medicine. The location and age group are the most important factors. I prefer older students and would like to be close to my kids who live in Iksan. I can be reached 1-9 pm M-F CST. |
